Nageela Idol 06 Remix

Here's a serious blast from the past!

I was going through an old backup CD and I found a few great videos including this one:
Remix from Nageela Idol '06, featuring such all time greats as
Jeff Weisz on the yoyo
Goob blowing up his head
Jacob Smalkin folding his underwear
Simi Moskowitz's crazy bike jumps
Scott as Simon
Me as Randy? You gotta be kidding!
Matthew Wexler, who stole the 1st place vote with his performance of 'blowing in the wind',
and the first ever Nageela edition of Sam Lipke clapping a song!

the BIG Shabbaton

SO you all know that this week was the BIG Shabbaton in Long Island. In fact, I think it was the BIGgest Shabbaton in JEPLI's history.
I want to hear from participants. How was it? Who was there? Who wasn't (besides me)?
What was the best part?

New logo idea

This obviously would only work for NageelaWest. Here's what happened. I was listening to the radio in my car, and as a West coast community, they had the Lakers playoff game on. They are playing the Jazz... lightbulb!

Whadya think? Should I use it over gatorade or the PS3 logo?

Here's the big question- it's a great logo and all, but I still have to get the words 'camp nageela west' somewhere on the shirt. Any ideas on how to make it work?

NEW NAGEELA BASED WEBSITE

In a collaborative effort between the head counselors of the 3 Nageela branches (East, Midwest, West) we have launched a blog/site dedicated to one of Nageela's all time favorite topics- CHOLENT!

It is still a work in progress, but you can check it out at www.thecholentbowl..com

Cholent Tributes

Camp Nageela owes much of its culture to that wonderful staple of Jewish gastronomic phenomena called cholent.
We are in the process of developing a new site dedicated to the wonders of cholent, both in the serious, and in the humorous worlds. So:
1. I challenge you to write poetry declaring your love for cholent or describing its many attributes and accomplishments
2. If you have a good cholent recipe, or cholent cooking/ serving tip, send that in too.

The best ones will be published.
You can email them to dani@jepli.org, lockeroom@gmail.com, rabbilocker@lasvegaskollel.org, dani@campnageela.org, info@nageelawest.org, dlocker@nageelawest.org... the possibilities are endless!

Just got back from the nageela conference. I'll tell you all about it some other time, but as far as logos go, most of the ppl there seemed 2 like the gatorade best

A rough idea

Here's an updated version.
Props to Corky for the idea!

Please comment if you have any changes that need 2 b made.

A rough idea

I will, of course, make adjustments to the design.
Props to Corky for the idea!
It's that time of year again!!!

We need your ideas. Please tell me anything you got for logos.

Someone suggested that I compromise between the two logos. Please give feedback

Here's another one

NageelaWest logo ideas

Here are two ideas (Okay, really just 1 idea, split into 2 possibilities) for a NageelaWest T- shirt design.
It is (obviously) based on the playstation 3 design. I think the top one is more authentic (looks like the 'S' in PS3), but is a bit harder to read.
What do you guys think?

Okay... any other ideas? I'm working on a few, but I'm open to new ideas.

Las Vegas Kollel Video

Ever wonder what it is exactly that I do in Las Vegas? Probably not. Either way, you can take a look at this video

NageelaWest names Girls Head counselor

We're excited to announce that the head counselor of the Camp NageelaWest girls division will be none other than Nageela veteran
Tzippy (Sherman) Holander
who brings years of experience and creativity to NageelaWest!

I saw the Signs

You gotta love Utah. There are all kinds of funny signs there. Here are a few that I saw on my recent trip (sorry, I didn't get pictures):

This handpainted sign was outside this tiny shack:

SMALLEST STORE IN UTAH

There was a progression of Xing signs that went as follows:

DEER XING

COW XING

TRUCK XING

GRANDPARENT XING

I kid you not. Utah, a truly unique place.

Re-Onion 2010

Thanks to Corky for sending me these pics from the reunion. Sorry I missed it this year.
Think maybe you're overdressed? Just a tad? What do you think this is? A paintball field?
When ice skating gets too tiring, you can always fall back on the good ol' Canadian pasttime of pressing your face against the glass.

That picture might look cooler on the beach, but...

I don't have a snappy cation for this one. Oh well, can't win 'em all.

Now I really feel bad that I missed it. Looks like everybody was there. Hope you had a blast! I hope I'll be able to come visit CNB this summer for a day or two.

When Courtesy Turns Dangerous

We always new that New Yorkers were rude, especially in the car. According to AAA, New York City has the rudest drivers! Go NY! I never believed that they'd actually come up with a logic to justify it being good.
Here's an article from AAA NY magazine explaining why it's UNSAFE to be nice.
Good to keep in mind.

You're Invited!

Shaya sent me this to put up for all of you to see.
Being the nice guy that I am, here it is:

I would like to invite all campers and staff from Camp Nageela to my Wedding which will take place G-d willing on March 11 with the reception starting at 6:30 and the Chupa at 7:30. You are all very dear to me and you would truly enhance my wedding with your presence and make it a most special occasion. Due to a limited number of invitations, please accept this as a personal invitation. I was able to arrange for a special buffet for Nageela but you must make a reservation. If you plan on coming please email me at shaya@campnageela.org Asap. I look forward to seeing everyone there!
Love,
The greatest Dork ever...

so true

My travels do occasionally lead me to some really interesting places.
ALong my recent journeys, upon a valiant quest to hunt down a resting place for NageelaWest, I passed through Zion National Park, one of the most beautiful sights in our USA. Especially in the snow.
Just outside of the park, literally in middle of nowhere, I found this very telling streetsign.

How apropos.
